Maitz Don Maitz is a two-time Hugo award winning artist whose work has appeared internationally. Known for his book cover paintings and as the creator of the popular Captain Morgan character for Seagram's spiced rum, his work encourages the spirit of visual imagination from the dreamily fantastic to the downright piratical. Since graduation in 1975, she has published six novels in the U.S. and Great Britain, and three collaborations in the Empire series with Raymond E. Feist. The concluding novel in the triology, MISTRESS OF THE EMPIRE, was recently #1 bestseller in Australia. Her cover for her novel, MASTER OF WHITE STORM, was awarded Best in Show at the World Fantasy Convention for two consequtive years. her short story and illustrations for DREAMBRIDGE received Cauldron Awards for art and writing, from Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine; and her painting WIZARD OF THE WOLS won a Chesley Award for Best Unpublished Work, 1992. At present, she is at work on a five book fantasy series that begins with CURSE OF THE MISTWRAITH, released by Harper Collins in England, and just out in hardcover from Penguin USA.
